About Chopta - Tungnath & Chandrashila Trek

Chopta is a popular meadow and scenic destination in the Char Dham Yatra area. It is a part of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Tourists come to Chopta and enjoy snowfall in the winter and do two famous treks, one is Tungnath Temple (World's highest Shiva temple) and other one is Chandrashila trek. Both the treks are wonderful for trekking lovers and beginners. Tungnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the Panch Kedar Yatra in Uttarakhand. Chopta looks extremely beautiful as it is surrounded by dense forests and has a wonderful view of the highest peaks of the snow-covered Himalayas.

How to Reach Chopta

Haridwar to Chopta is about 194 km via NH 7. The nearest airport is in Dehradun. The road is well connected to Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun. It is take about 6-7 hour journey by taxi from Haridwar but it is a hilly area so may be take 1-2 hours extra to reach here.
